Dr. John Veinot, MD, FRCPC
Chief of Staff
Dr. Veinot holds the position of Chief of Staff at EORLA and also holds the position of Chief/Head of the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of Ottawa, the Ottawa Hospital, and the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO) where he has been employed since 1994. He is Director of Anatomical Pathology at the Heart Institute and cross appointed in the Division of Cardiology at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute.
A Cardiovascular Pathologist with a strong dedication to education, Dr. Veinot is a Full Professor in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Ottawa and a Clinical Investigator of the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute.
As author of various articles and case studies, he has been published in Cardiovascular Pathology, the Annals of Thoracic surgery, Pathology, the European Journal of Cardio-Thoracic Surgery and the American Heart Association’s Circulation to name just a few.
Dr. Veinot holds a Bachelor of Science from Acadia University and his Doctor of Medicine degree from Dalhousie Medical School. He completed a residency in Anatomical Pathology at Queen’s University and a fellowship in Cardiovascular Pathology at the Mayo Clinic.
He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons and is a past recipient of the University of Ottawa’s Excellence in Education award. He serves as the President of the Society for Cardiovascular Pathology, and sits on the physician advisory board of Accreditation Canada.
